Boeing restarts 737 MAX production in Renton Company at Washington. They have a low budget to build the airplane as their focus is to enhance product quality and safety at the workplace.
Walt Odhisho, General Manager and Vice President of the 737 Program stated that- “We are on the continuous journey to enhance the production system and make it stronger”

These steps are the building block to generate an optimal environment for 737 MAX. The program will gradually elevate the production in the coming months. In January, there was temporarily postponement of the production. During the suspension period, engineers and mechanics work together to standardize and refine work packages in every position of the workplace. With the help of a brand new kitting process, employees have everything to build the airplane.
Their aim was not only to make the processing more efficient but also to work on the quality issues which were faced repeatedly in the last two years which also included the MAX program.

Suspension Period of MAX Program
In February, debris was found by Boeing in the Wing fuel tanks that had been systematically stored and parked. They were compelled to examine for Foreign Object Debris which is known as FOD in the airline industry. Debris was found in all 385 planes that were formed completely but not delivered yet. Boeing also recommended that the companies who have taken MAX jets must reexamine their wing tanks.
Prior this month, a knowledgeable person who has in-depth detail of this incident said that bag of the screw was found in the MAX wing tank.
Transformation in the Assembling Process
The deal has a major focus which outlines the transformation which is must in the MAX assembling process:
- To start with the new line of control centers alongside the assembly line. In this call center, the engineers will provide assistance to the mechanics.
- For every work position in the workplace, they have to arrange a new work process and tool kits.
- To support the team with a clear line of sight to the airplane and to remove unnecessary equipment at the workplace they should build up a new reconfigured factory.
“All these changes will help to reach them to their goals with no incidents, 100% quality, zero FOD and 100% completion of the work”
Stan Deal- CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes stated that resuming the line heralds, “As a reminder of this year starting with the gradual rise in the production.”
With the collapse in the requirement of the new aircraft due to COVID-19, he said Boeing has a plan of action to slow ramp increase in the coming year.
Cancellation of the Orders
In recent times, Boeing detaches 200 order, some of them were canceled and rest were taken as their commitment were not enough solid to count. Airline expertise has anticipated that there are more cancellation orders in their way because of a drastic drop in the travel.
The good news is there are some of the airlines which are going to place orders super soon. American Airlines have retired all their former aircraft and when the business picks up, there are planning to get new MAXs.
Wrapping up!!
The steps which are taken will altogether help to achieve the goals. Followed by two fatal crashes in just four to five months, 737 MAX was grounded since 13 March 2019. At that time, they said temporary suspension will take place but have no idea who long it will last.
It is good to start with the production as it will keep people working. Apparently, Boeing has already 400 completed 737 MAX airplanes but they are not certified. So, I don’t understand what the point is.
The sad news is 7000 US-based employees are laid off by Boeing. It is actually not a big surprise considering the situation going on around the world.
