Flight attendant with Westjet Airlines, Cherry Manandhar, has always wanted to be a flight attendant as a young child but had to set it aside because the standard was really high when she first applied as a new graduate in the Philippines.
Mrs. Cherry took some time out of her busy schedule to take this interview.

1. Could you tell us what you love the most about your job?

What I love about my job is the opportunity to travel while working. Westjet Airlines itself has more than 100 destinations. It doesn’t feel like working anymore once you arrived in your layover and the view from the top (sky) is spectacular.

2. What has been the most toughest part of being a Cabin Crew?

I should say the scheduling. Sometimes you don’t really get the schedule you needed and the really very early check-in times otherwise, it is really I should say an enjoyable job.

3. How are you handling the Pandemic Situation and how it’s affecting you?

Thankfully, our company really takes care of us, they gave us Leaves for those who really needed to stay home, and for those who are still flying, we are now required to have PPE (gloves, mask, eye goggles, face shield and suit) which is really nice. It is really indeed a very difficult time for all of us, but it is our job to do the best service with kindness we could give to our passengers. The way we treat everyone with kindness and sympathy is all that matters now. We need to be together as one not only during this pandemic but for all the time.

4. Any suggestions to future generations who aspire to be a cabin crew?

Don’t ever give up on your dreams, it will never happen by luck, if you really want it, you have to work hard for it. Be humble and kind and most, be yourself!
